With excitement written on their faces and their tiny bodies bedecked in an array of creative outfits, students of theProphecyPre-Schooleagerly participated in the institution’s first ever ‘Career Dress Up’ Day on Friday, 4th May, 2012. This was held to commemorate Labour/Workers Day which was celebrated on Tuesday, 1st May 2012.

The activity was designed to inject some measure of excitement into the children’s regular routine while providing an outlet for them to visibly express their future career goals.

According to Principal, Mrs. Heather Gumbs, rather than wearing the usual Friday games wear (t-shirt and short pants) each child was required to wear a creative costume showing what they choose as their career path and why they choose that particular career. There were great quotes such as “I want to be a policeman, so I can lock up the gangsters”, and “I want to be a Doctor, so I can fix people’s heart”.

In our midst were future police officers, fire fighters, doctors, nurses, dentists, chefs, teachers, customs officers, lawyers, pilots, architects, contractors, captains, singers, musicians, a soldier, a princess, a veterinarian, an air hostess, a pastor, a judge, and even a future Chief Minister.

Commenting on the event, Principal Gumbs stated the whole day was a success and it was great to see the children displaying such ambitions. They came out in their colourful costumes; they were really creative. In some cases, it seems like the parents were more excited about the activity than their children. The parents really went out of their way to prepare their children for the day. Prophecy Pre-Schoolis proud to be a part of the foundation of starting the students on the road to achieving their goals.

Children who were exceptionally well, were rewarded with Kindergarten Text Books in preparation for Kindergarten as well as educational supplies compliments Mr. & Mrs. Bernard Wattley, L & J Business Machines and Uneek Supplies.

We extend sincere thanks and appreciation to all who supported and made this activity a reality.
