Though far from the age for the world of work, children in the kindergarten section to grade three of theValleyPrimary Schoolspent Tuesday this week thinking of the jobs they may wish to pursue when grown up.
Guidance Counsellor at the school, Mrs. Vivian Fleming, said the event was organised so that the children could begin thinking, at an early age, what they would like to be in the job market, and to understand the purpose of having a good education.
During the morning session Dr. Linda Banks and Curtis Richardson spoke to the children on choosing a career. Later in the day personnel from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, the Fire Service and the Health Authority visited the school with their equipment and demonstrated how persons in those careers carry out their work.
Many of the children were dressed in uniforms worn by persons serving in various fields such as Police, Customs, Aviation, Health and Sport. There was much excitement among the young students with encouragement from teachers and parents.
