Dear Sir,

The good ship “Anguilla” is sailing into dangerous waters, but is Captain Hubert Hughes in control of the vessel and alive to the dangers ?  Youth crime, hotel investor problems, a lack of tourists and many other issues, seem to be ignored by the Captain as he works on his obsession with independence. What good will this achieve right now?

Regular correspondents to this newspaper have pointed out thatAnguillais not yet ready for full independence, and nowhere has the AUM clearly stated what benefits it would bring. Surely, it is time the Chief Minister sets out clearly the benefits of his demand for independence now, so that the good people ofAnguillamay know how to vote if and when a referendum is called.  Or is this another case of turning straw into gold ?

Graham Dawson,

North Hill.
