The AXA Cares Food Bank is the result of a group of concerned citizens getting together with the thought of giving assistance to families on Anguilla who, at this time, who through no fault of their own, are struggling to feed their families.

The concept was immediately adopted by The HOPE Centre inEast End, and by the Welches Community Fest Committee, as something that could only be a positive for the Anguillian community.

As a result of all persons involved being willing to “put their nose to the grindstone,” and act, it was possilbe to prepare food boxes for about 38 families on December 23rd, 2011. From the initial communities of Welches,IslandHarbourandEast End, we have been able to add families in The Valley area, North Hill and South Hill . Thus we have been able to increase the number of families given assistance to around 50.

The goal is to provide only  nutritious wholesome basic food items to families in need on a weekly basis.  With the strong support of Tropical Distributors, Ashleys, Alberts, JW Proctor, Best Buy, Merchants Market, FrankieLake’s Garden and Haskins Ltd, as well as a number of generous donations from other concerned citizens and businesses,  the goal has been met.

Believing it is best to give with no expectations, those involved with The Food Bank desire no public recognition, but would like to ask all Anguillians to join in the effort of providing food to those in need by donating to the cause.

We have food barrels in a number of grocery stores (and hope to have others in near future) to enable those who feel able, to easily donate an item of food while shopping.. For those who would like to donate a case of food, Haskins Ltd in The Valley has kindly agreed to be a drop off point for the Food Bank.

Also, for anyone wishing to make a monetary donation, cheques are accepted for The Hope Center. Account is at the National Bank ofAnguilla.
