One of the highlights of Police Week 2012 was the Senior Citizens’ Lunch, which considered the largest of all lunches held over the years. It was held in the basement area of Police Headquarters on Friday, January 27.
The luncheon, prepared mainly by the Women Officers of the Force, was shared with residents of the four homes: the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home, Tender Loving Care, Just Tender Care and Rosewood Centre.
Chairperson of Police Week Programme, Inspector Marva Brooks, told The Anguillian: “Police Week is always a way for us to interact with the community, and to let all persons know that there is more to policing… than arresting them.
“This is one of the vehicles we use to reach to the community, and show the public that human side of the Police they don’t see too often.”
Musical entertainment for the occasion was provided by Anguilla Time, the newest string band one the island.
