FRENCH CRUISE SHIP VISITS ANGUILLA

French cruise ship, Club Med 2 at Road Bay

Among the events which keptRoadBaybusy during Sunday, January 29, was the arrival of a French cruise ship, Club Med 2. On board were 308 passengers, many of whom came ashore and were taken on tours to several parts ofAnguilla.

The ship, which is based inParis,France, is now on aCaribbeancruise. There are two cruises each year. They are the Mediterranean in summer, where it travels to 70 destinations; and theCaribbeanin winter, travelling to 46 destinations.

 

Tourist coming ashore

The 5-masted Club Med 2 was launched in 1992. It has 7 sails automatically-controlled by computers, and the sail power is a combination of diesel and electric power. With a length of 637 feet, the ship is considered to be one of the biggest sailing cruise ships. It can carry 372 passengers along with a crew of 200. There are 8 decks with ultra-modern offerings and newly-finished cabins.

 

The ship is managed by Club Mediterranee, a French company established in 1950, which is also known for establishing resorts in exotic locations all over the world.
