| Ships crew with Commander Ponsford, Governor Harrison and Mr. Ricky Rouphine |
Governor Alistair Harrison, and the Naval Officer in Charge, Lt. Cdr. Phil Ponsford, were present at the completion of the painting work on Tuesday afternoon. Governor Harrison expressed thanks to the ship’s crew: “They have done a magnificent job in repainting the Red Cross Headquarters,” he said. “It certainly looks tremendous now. Thank you very much to everybody who has been working on it, and thanks to the Red Cross for giving the crew the opportunity to get involved in a project like this.” He hoped that the crew would have an otherwise relaxing time during their stay in Anguilla. Commander Ponsford stated that it was a real pleasure for the ship’s crew to assist Anguilla in a small way. He said that the sailors were drawn fromthe Royal Fleet Auxiliary, the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines. “This is one of the real genuine pleasures you get when you do this patrol in the navy – the chance to help the community and to meet some of the people, and partake in the hospitality as well,” he added. Ricky Rouphine of the Anguilla Red Cross thanked the crew for giving the building a bright facelift for the coming Christmas season, and for making it more presentable to the community and the Red Cross volunteers. |
