President and Founder of the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA), Mitchelle Lake, has announced the appointment of Lawrence Douglin as the new Tennis Director for the Academy. “Lawrence will be a great fit for the Anguilla Tennis Academy. He has a passion for grassroots tennis and enjoys working with both children and adults. His experience and qualifications in the tennis industry will certainly benefit the Academy in its overall development,” said Lake.

Douglin was born in the UK but grew up in Barbados, returning to England in 1994 where he played league tennis in various clubs and won many tournaments. In 2001 he successfully took the Development Coach Award and became a licensed LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) Coach. He was Head Coach at Springfield Tennis Club from 2002 to 2008. He completed the Professional Tennis Registry Course in July 2005, and the Registry of Professional Tennis Course at Sanchez-Casals Academy in Barcelona in June 2009. During his time in the UK he coached several players who went on to achieve good results.
Lawrence said that he is very happy to be in Anguilla and feels very much at home already. He aims to enable players he works with to become the best they can be by supporting and encouraging them while promoting healthy lifestyles, better coordination and social interaction through tennis. He is keen to work with the children of Anguilla and in fact has already started coaching at the after school programme. He also plans to organize more tournaments for adults and children.
