| Children at the LIME Summer School |
During the last three weeks of August, the LIME sponsored Internet Summer Camp was held with the purpose of exposing 80 children ages 9 – 12 years old to free basic computer and internet browsing classes. Students were drawn from all communities across in Anguilla and the classes were facilitated by Ms Deborah Wynter, Ms Kohn Hazell and Mr Paul Trim. The Programme was coordinated by the Department of Youth and Culture in collaboration with the Department of Education and the youth centres found in strategic locations around the island. Several students as well as some parents expressed their pleasure and appreciation that the children were given this opportunity and hoped that it could become an annual event. The children were exposed to various Microsoft programmes and LIME and the Department of Youth and Culture were each presented with a thank-you cards designed and printed by the students of the Comprehensive Learning Centre under the tutelage of Deborah G. Wynter. After the formalities, refreshments were enjoyed by all and the general consensus was that Anguilla’s children have benefited much from the opportunity provided, thanks to LIME. |
