There are fertile plots and pockets of land all over Anguilla with good potential just waiting for small and dedicated farmers to take time to do some cultivating.

Calvin Smith of the Keys, Island Harbour, is one of a number of persons in that area of Anguilla who are doing just that, and the rewards are most encouraging.

Smith drove up to The Anguillian on Monday this week showcasing three of the largest bunches of bananas, and without blemish, harvested on the island in recent times. Only the truck he was driving could have adequately accommodated and transported the large bunches of the popular and delicious tropical fruit.

Earlier, Mr. Smith harvested some large pumpkins which he quickly sold.
