Rotary International District Governor Visits Anguilla

Visiting Anguilla on Thursday were the new Rotary International District Governor Dr Guy Theodore of Haiti and his assistant, Mr James Ferris from neighbouring St Maarten. Dr Theodore is a surgeon in his native country and enjoyed a tour of the Princess Alexandra Hospital guided by the Rt Hon Dr Sir Kennedy Simmonds, Chief Medical Officer.

The visitors were met at the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal by Club President, Dr John Jones, and members of the local Club, and were given a guided tour of the island. They met with the members of the Anguilla Rotary Club, and afterwards enjoyed lunch at DaVida Restaurant. The visitors were introduced to some of the projects around the island that the Club has recently supported, including WISE. Principal of WISE, Ms Gabrielle Klaren, spoke about the activities of her school, and of the involvement of the local Rotary Club.

The visiting District Governor participated in the induction of the Club’s latest member, Alma Romerde, a past Rotarian in her native Philippines.

The delegation also met with the Hon Chief Minister, Mr Hubert Hughes, and with the island Governor, Mr Allistair Harrison. The party returned to St Maarten at 4:00 pm.
