| A stockpile of cannabis, held in Police custody for some time, was destroyed by fire on Thursday, August 18, at the backyard of Police Headquarters, on instruction from the Magistrate. |
The pile comprised 1302 plants and about 100 pounds of compressed and parcelled marijuana.
Inspector Emris Rogers said that some of the cannabis was evidence from a number of cases already heard in the Magistrate’s Court, and the remainder was found by the Police in various villages around the island where no one was arrested and charged.
Possession of cannabis is an offence in Anguilla and over the past years the Police have seized and destroyed it in various stages of growth and process. |
