Pope Hill, Anguilla – As the effects of COVID-19 pandemic plagues on regionally, the UWI OC Anguilla Guild of Students offered one postgraduate and three undergraduate partial tuition grants for Semester III 2019/2020 to local students. Four undergraduate students were successful in their application, namely, Lester Seraphine, Shermel Hodge, Tiffany Moore, and Jahnesha Jones.
The grant was offered to all registered students, who were pursuing at least one summer course, have a minimum GPA of 2.9 and expressed financial need. The students’ applications were vetted by the regional registrar and reviewed locally by a committee consisting of Alumni Member, Jocelyn Mills, Alumni Associate President, Yvette Wallace, and UWI OC Anguilla Guild of Students Chair, Kemoloy Murphy. The recipients were all awarded US $180.00 to their tuition and are also required to attend at least one Guild-led activity and the Annual General Meeting for Semester 1 2020/2021. The Guild Grant was part of two initiatives offered by the local Guild of Students Executive with the other being 12 Utility vouchers given to students who are facing financial difficulty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Guild Executive decided to reallocate their budgeted funds for Guild Fest and the End of Semester Social to support the students during this time. The UWI OC Anguilla Guild of Students wishes to congratulate all the recipients as the grant will assist in the continuation of their studies.
