To the people of Anguilla, it is with the deepest gratitude that we the members of the Anguilla United Front thank you for supporting our team. You entrusted our administration with the mandate to lead Anguilla from 2015 to 2020.
It was a period in which we, as a nation, faced several challenges such as the banking crisis, Hurricane Irma, and a global pandemic. Under the capable leadership of our outgoing Premier Mr Victor Banks – together we were able to display our resilience as a people as each time we found a way to overcome.
On June 29th 2020, the people of Anguilla went to the polls and asked for change. It is in that light that we now pass the baton of Anguilla’s Leadership to the duly elected incoming government.
To the newly sworn-in Anguilla Progressive Movement Government, led by the Honourable Premier Dr Ellis L. Webster, we the members of the Anguilla United Front team join in congratulating you on your victory. Our team wishes your government every success as you venture to lead our county forward.
We are proud of the campaign we ran and wish to congratulate all the candidates who were brave enough to place their hat in the 2020 ring. We are especially proud of our 4 successful candidates – the Hon Cora Richardson-Hodge, the Hon Evans McNiel Rogers, the Hon Cardigan Connor, and the Hon José Vanterpool.
Under the Leadership of the Hon Cora Richardson Hodge, we are con?dent that our team will provide the people with effective opposition team representation in the new House of Assembly. As members of the opposition, our team has the crucial roles of providing the checks and balances, and oversight functions, on behalf of the people of Anguilla as the new government conducts its business. We will do so with honesty, integrity and the utmost best of our ability on behalf of our people.
We want to thank our leader, Victor Franklin Banks, for his years of service to Anguilla – and his guidance in steering our island through what has been undoubtably the most challenging 5-year period in our history. Mr. Banks’ legacy is that of a national hero and he will honoured as such in the coming years.
This Saturday, July 4th, we are inviting all members of the AUF FAMILY to a meeting of thanksgiving at Landsome, in The Valley. starting at 6 pm.
The Anguilla United Front, and its members, will continue to offer prayers of support for the people of Anguilla as we all journey through this very difficult time in the history of the world.
