The Anguilla Football Association will send four football players to the 2020 Free Kick College Player Showcase in Grenada from the 16th-19th February 2020. The Free Kick College Player showcase is a four-day event where male and female student athletes from the Eastern Caribbean get the opportunity to interact with US university coaches. Players will have an opportunity, if selected, to receive Partial or Full Scholarships to a University in the United States of America.
The college hopefuls, Samisha Connor – Goalkeeper, Aneisha Mathew – Defender, Tafari Smith -Defender, Cameron Lloyd – Defensive Midfielder, will be accompanied by Mr. Winston Duncan who has been instrumental in supporting such sporting initiatives. Their selection was based on a number of requirements that each was able to meet – including a minimum Grade I, II, III in both Math and English, and the participants having SAT/ACT scores or being pre-registered to take the exam. Participants of the Free Kick College Player Showcase must also be under the age of 21.
This event will bring together student-athletes from St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Kitts, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, Trinidad & Tobago, Anguilla and Antigua & Barbuda. All activities are scheduled to take place at the Kirani James Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada. The weekend entails a meet and greet with other college hopefuls, a student-athlete symposium, varied training sessions, college player combine and scrimmage games.
The Executive Committee of the Anguilla Football Association is committed to providing opportunities for its football family who have excelled on and off the field, and wishes the participants the best of luck in their try outs in Grenada.
