The East End Primary School opened its doors on Wednesday 23rd January 1918 with a roll of 246 pupils.

The first headmaster was Mr. O O Saunders.

Mr. Morris Vanterpool was the first former pupil of the East End School to serve as its headmaster. He took up this position on the 7th April, 1959.

On 10th January 1974, the pupils of the East End Primary School were transferred to a new building.

Two years later, the headmaster of the school, Mr. Morris Vanterpool died in a car accident. This sad event occurred on the 22nd February, 1976.

Ten years later in 1986, the East End Primary School was renamed the Morris Vanterpool Primary School in his honour.

The Head teacher of the school at that time (1986) was Mrs Sylvene Petty.

Other headteachers/principals of the Morris Vanterpool Primary School include:
Mrs. Donice Hodge, Mrs Agnes Maynard, Ms Rosalind Pond, Mrs. Winnifred Carty, Mrs. Maralyn Richardson, Ms. Ronetta Fahie, and Mrs. Celestine John.

Mr. Michael Skellekie is the current Principal of the School.

The school celebrated its 42nd anniversary on Sunday 10th January, 2016. Every year around this time, the school holds a week of activities termed ‘Open Doors’. Activities held during this week included a presentation by former teacher Mrs Pansy Richardson and a “Know Your School” competition.
