The Visiting Rotatarians and Anguillans

Various schoolchildren and other young people in Anguilla have benefitted from a one-week visit by a Rotary Club Vocational Team from Rotary District 790 which includes the United States and Canada.

The leader of the five-member Vocation Training Team is Rotarian Lezlie Murch, and the others are Rotarians Darren Luong, Jean Montgomery, Michael Hogg and Laura Chatterto.

The team, whose background is in sports, came to Anguilla to deliver vocational training to Primary and Comprehensive School students and young people involved in after-school programmes at the Blowing Point Youth Development Centre.
The members of the team, who will remain in Anguilla until Sunday, March 29, have been providing leadership training and technical advice in sports. The instructions included how to cool down after a race and how to get off the starting block. The team also provided the leaders of some of the sports organisations with assistance in strategic grant writing and strategic planning.
The team first met with various persons at the conference room at the Ronald Webster Park on Monday, March 23, when they brought some sporting equipment for the Education Department and the Blowing Point Youth Development Centre. The equipment included volley balls, soccer balls, tennis balls, rackets and nets.

Members of the team have been to all the public schools, as well as the privately-run Omolulu International School, coaching students in how to play various sports.

The visit of the team to the island was coordinated by Mr. Seymour Hodge, President of the Rotary Club of Anguilla. He expressed his pleasure and gratitude for the work of the Vocational Team in Anguilla which is part of Rotary District 720.
