A contract has been signed between LIME Anguilla and the Anguilla Summer Festival Committee for the platinum sponsorship of this year’s carnival and other cultural events.
LIME Anguilla was mainly represented at Monday’s signing of the agreement by its Acting Manager, Mr Larry Stott, and its Communications and Marketing Manager, Ms Jade Reymond. The Summer Festival Committee, some of whose members were present, was represented by the Chairman, Mr Karl Woodley.
LIME Anguilla’s sponsorship amounts to over EC$125,000, some $13,000 more than last year.

Ms Reymond provided the media with some background information relating to the telecommunication company’s involvement in the sponsorship of the summer festival. “Recently, we launched our new 4G service. With this in mind, we have been powering a number of different initiatives across the Anguilla community,” she stated. “Carnival ‘40 will be our largest sponsorship to date and probably until the remainder of the year.
“Through these initiatives, we have in particular LIME for life and that was brought about through our management in looking for different ways and means of being part of the community. Nothing speaks to community like celebrating our culture and this partnership has been ongoing. This year, we have increased our sponsorship in the area of EC $125,000. We are very pleased to be partnering with Anguilla Carnival ’40 and we know that it is going to be a special year.”

Ms Reymond took the opportunity to outline a number of activities, including shows, boat-racing, other events and participants, which LIME will be sponsoring during the Anguilla Summer Festival.
Mr Woodley said in part: “On behalf of the Summer Festival Committee, we would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to LIME for its continued sponsorship of Anguilla’s Summer Festival. Your sponsorship confirms your commitment to both the cultural art form and national development. I can recall, and I stand to be corrected, that Cable & Wireless, now LIME, has been sponsoring the event from 1975 when we first started carnival or the summer festival. We want to express our sincere thanks again to LIME.”
Mr Woodley joined Ms Reymond in listing the various activities that LIME will be sponsoring, and answered a number of questions about how plans for the summer festival were proceeding.

The Festival Committee Chairman disclosed that the estimated cost to finance this year’s events was over EC$800,000 including LIME’s sponsorship.
