“ACOCI’s Business after Hours Event”

On Wednesday, 20th November 2013, the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce & Industry Business After Hours event was hosted by the Old Factory Complex in the Valley.

Mrs. Wilma Broaden, our Event Coordinator, was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.
The ceremony began with welcome remarks by Mr. Carlton Pickering, Acting Executive Director of the Chamber. Mr. Pickering welcomed the invited members and guests. He went on to say that the ‘ACOCI is engaged and is working assiduously with every group and organization, private and Governmental to forge meaningful and sustainable ways in advancing and promoting economic activities on the Island.’ He also made mention of the Anguilla 44, a Vision for Prosperity. He continued to say that ‘participation of the private Sector, the Government of Anguilla and the Anguilla Community at large can increase visitors to our shores, sustain Employment in the tourism Industry, create new and lasting clients to the business community, increase revenue to the Government of Anguilla and bring added value to the tourism product and services that we all can be excited about going forward.’

Mr. Scott Hauser, Director/Owner of Sothebys International Realty, Professional Business Services and the Valley Bistro also gave brief remarks and introduced Mrs. Eve Wallace to give a brief presentation on the Old Factory Complex. Mrs. Wallace reported that historically, the Old Factory served as a central point of commerce, which was Anguilla’s only bank and general store at the time. She stated ‘Mr. Hauser has revamped it into what it is today, and I must give him credit for this vision that has now been realized.’ An added addition to the Complex is Zazaa Treasures, a branch of Zazaa Boutique owned by Robin & Sue Ricketts.

Further remarks were presented by Mr. Adrian Kobbe, Director/Owner of Kobbe Design/GumKo International who spoke about the history Kobbe Design and about working alongside of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Members and guests at the event were treated to white and red wine, finger food and the opportunity to tour the complex. Three lucky guests were winners of the door prizes. The door prizes were breakfast, lunch and dinner for two and the Valley Bistro. Members and business associates of the Chamber also networked and enjoyed themselves throughout the evening.
