The Department of Public Administration has just completed another Induction Programme for new and continuing teachers at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School and the six (6) Primary Schools.

The two half-day sessions were held at the Teachers’ Resource Centre on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 and Thursday, March 28, 2013. The exercise was organized to familiarize teachers with the Anguilla Public Service, its operations, policies and procedures and to highlight some of the processes and guidelines of the different systems of which they (teachers) form a vital part.
The presentations were tailored to meet the specific needs of the teachers and included topics such as Understanding Government, Goals of the Anguilla Public Service, Communication with Stakeholders, Expectations of teachers as public officers, Compensation and Benefits of working in the Anguilla Public Service, Recruitment and Training, Professionalism, Pension Benefits and the Importance/Benefits of Social Security.
It is anticipated that after the exercise, teachers would have a better understanding of the Anguilla Public Service and that they would continue to experience feelings of worth and satisfaction.
Research has shown that employee induction is an important part of every organization. It gives the organization an opportunity to create a positive, strong impression in the minds of the new employees. When employees are inducted, they settle quickly into the organization and become productive and efficient at an early stage in their working experience.
The facilitators for the sessions were Mr Stanley Reid – Hon Deputy Governor, Mrs Kathleen Rogers – Permanent Secretary Public Administration, Mrs Lana Horsford Harrigan – Director, Human Resource Management, Mrs Aunika Webster-Lake and Mrs Charmaine Rogers – Deputy Directors, Human Resource Management,
Ms Sherise Brooks – Human Resource Management Officer, Mrs Oronica Hughes – Training Officer, Mrs Monifa Gumbs – Accountant, Pension Fund and Mr Ash Hodge – Public Relations Officer/HR Social Security.
