PRIMARY SCHOOLS PRESENTED WITH VOLLEYBALL EQUIPMENT

Presentation of volleyballs to Primary School Principals

The Anguilla Volleyball Amateur Association has presented the six public Primary Schools with a supply of special balls and ball carts for children twelve years old and under.

The presentation was made by Winston Duncan in his capacity as President of the Volleyball Association and as an Educator. “We are fully cognisant of the fact that at times we are short of resources, and whatever we can get, we have decided to share the same with the schools,” he stated. “Education is not only an academic matter, but it also entails the development of the entire person. We are therefore ensuring that we do our best to have as many individuals as possible accessing the sport of volleyball.”

He stressed that there were many opportunities available in terms of individual development with possible scholarship offers. He thanked the Primary Schools for participating in the Annual Volleyball Tournament andpromised that, in addition to the balls and carts, some nets would also be provided. He said the aim was to develop volleyball like all other sports inAnguillato provide positive avenues for the island’s children.

The balls and carts were provided through the North American/Caribbean Regional Volleyball Association.

Words of  appreciation came from Principal of the Vivien Vanterpool School at Island Harbour, Tracelyn Hamilton. She prefaced her remarks by saying she was proud that both male and female volleyball teams of her school were the current champions of the tournament.

“I would like to say thank you, on behalf of the Education Department, principals, parents and students, to the Anguilla Volleyball Association for this kind gesture,” she went on. “We are grateful for the well-needed equipment and, as you rightly stated, it is more than just building our children academically, but we need to build them in the area of sports; so we thank you for your timely gifts.”
