A new medical practice in the Fairplay Commercial Center in the Valley called Family Health Center has been opened by Dr. Patvin Adams and Anguillian physician. The center officially opened February 27th, 2012 and is already seeing patients. The Family Health Center is patient-centered and opens everyday from 9am-6 pm on weekdays which allows most employees to see Dr. Adams after work. On Saturday he opens from 9am-12noon and Sunday from 3-6pm. He offers patients home visits and nursing home visits. Negotiations are proceeding with many insurance companies to accept their medical coverage. Several lab tests including cholesterol, pregnancy tests, blood glucose levels, HIV and hepatitis screening, liver and kidney panels are available.

Dr. Adams began his medical career in 1996 after graduating from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. He then worked in Anguilla at the Princess Alexandra Hospital from 1998-2005 before leaving to pursue and complete a family medicine residency at Michigan State University, U.S.A. Until recently, he then worked at different hospitals in Louisiana. According to Dr. Adams “family physicians are medical specialists who provide long-term comprehensive medical care to persons of all ages, male and female. Unlike other specialties which tend to focus on one or a few organ systems, we treat the whole person”.

He is assisted by Nurse Irma Carty, an Anguillian nurse with decades of clinical experience and administrative responsibilities at various institutions including the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr. Adams is the son of Calvin and Patricia Adams of the Farrington Anguilla.
