A full programme has been prepared by the Governor’s Office for the one-day Royal Visit toAnguillaby Their Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward and Princess Sophie) on Monday, March 5.
They are coming toAnguillaas representatives of Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.
The programme was outlined by His Excellency The Governor, Alistair Harrison, at a press conference in the Executive Council’s Chambers on Tuesday this week. He was accompanied by Deputy Governor, Stanley Reid, Catherine Firth, Head of the Governor’s Office, and Sam Bethel (a temporary replacement for Peter Roberts who is also assisting with arrangements the Royal Visit).
Governor Harrison told the media representatives that the programme included everything that the Earl of Wessex and his wife, the Countess of Wessex, would be doing during their day inAnguilla.
There are two joint events first thing in the morning of Monday, March 5. One is the ceremonial arrival atRoadBay. The other is the official welcoming ceremony at Ronald Webster Park to which all members of the public are invited. This event is being organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Department of Protocol.
That will be followed by a special service at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, to which the public is invited. The Royal Visitors will then have separate programmes during the rest of the morning and afternoon. They will attend a formal lunch at Government House where the programme will conclude in the evening with a reception. During that event, His Royal Highness, the Earl of Wessex, will deliver a speech.
