Open Letter To Football President

Mr Raymond Guishard
President
Anguilla Football Association
Queen Elizabeth Avenue

Dear Mr Guishard

Recent developments in the global football arena specifically regarding the issue of alleged corruption resulting in charges against two very well placed FIFA personnel as well as a subsequent investigation provided an ideal platform to ask several questions of you as the person in charge of the Anguilla Football Association.

What is being done in the way of football development on the island with specific reference to coaching, club development, youth programmes, marketing of the game and exposure to competition?

Why are we still playing home games away from home in light of the fact that we now have a ‘state-of-the-art’ facility?

What is the cost to date of the ‘state-of-the-art’ facility?

What is the estimated completion date for the ‘state-of-the-art’ facility?

Have you ever given thought to the issue of nepotism as it relates to the operation of the AFA?

Why is the role of the General Secretary of the AFA being carried out by remote?

Why are you as President of the AFA still engaged in certain mundane activities that clearly should be delegated?

Why is FIFA’s constitution being selectively applied as in the case of clubs being denied full membership in the AFA in contravention of article 3 of both FIFA’s and the AFA’s constitutions?

Why is one coach being used for all levels of national coaching locally?

Why is the surface of the field at the ‘state-of-the-art’ facility so overrun by weeds and so prone to flooding?

Why have the lights not yet been installed, and what is the status of the contract to install said lights?

How soon can we expect the dangerous holes dug to accommodate the light poles to be covered over?

What is the cost associated with the lights being used for training?

Is it a fact that the ‘state-of-the-art’ facility is not connected to the national electricity grid?

Why are players still not being permitted to use the locker rooms at the ‘state-of-the-art’ facility?

Did you or did you not receive the US$40,000 rumoured to have been given recently to the Presidents of Football Associations in CONCACAF at the Trinidad meeting?

As persons with genuine interests in the development of football in Anguilla we anticipate your response to the foregoing questions, and look forward to working in the interest of taking the game forward on the island of Anguilla.

Yours in Football
